World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading
The upgrade of an item allows players to boost the gear score of an item up to 700 and add a final perk. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory before heading to the kiln.
Certain items can be upgraded to benefit from their unique stats (like perfect made breakpoint armour that can be rolled to use in melee PvP) while other items, such as weapons do not change significantly after an upgrade and thus aren't worth upgrading.
Weapons
Upgrades to weapons can improve their numerical stats, like attack damage, crit chance, and PvE/PvP damage. Weapons come with a flat rate bonus that increases damage per second. Additionally, item upgrade have a set bonus which is activated when three or more of the same weapon are present on a unit. In some instances, this bonus can add up to more than the amount of damage that a weapon can sustain on its own.
The cost of upgrading a weapon is based on the rarity of the weapon and its current level. For instance an item with a rating of +2 will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while a +3 requires four. The number of stones needed to upgrade a weapon will continue rise until it requires a higher tier of Smithing Stones, at which the number will be reset to one.
Upgrades to weapons can also reroll the stats of the base. While this is usually an excellent thing but it can also have negative consequences too. For items that only see use in a particular build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs for instance), upgrading them may make them unusable unless you happen to have an extremely lucky roll.
Items of armor can also be upgraded to increase their effectiveness. For example, if you upgrade chests or helms, this will increase the defense of its base, while gloves and belts improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor also offers a reroll option for its Enhanced Defense percent, which means that it may roll back to a lower number.
The upgrade template for a weapon displays the new stats it will gain when upgraded in addition to their respective values. This means that a weapon will gain 33% attack damage when it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. However the 3% does not mean that it will strike 3 times less often because it's an absolute statistic.
Rerolling a weapon is possible by pressing the green button within the item menu with the arrows that circle. This will reroll an item and change its statistics, but not reset the weapon's level or bind it to account status.
Armor
A few upgrades to your armor can make a huge difference to your survival. Certain sets offer massive increases in resistance to curses, poisons, fire, and magic. This makes it easier to navigate difficult terrains. In general, the greater defense you have for your character, the more health you'll receive from each point. Therefore, it's a good idea to upgrade your armor.
To upgrade your armor, head to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four Great Fairy Fountains within the game and in order to unlock each fountain, you must complete an additional quest involving the Stable Trotters. After you've completed the main quest, and the corresponding fountains, you can talk to any Great Fairy in order to unlock the menu for upgrading armor.
Each piece of armor can be upgraded to three levels, and the amount of materials and Rupees needed for each will vary. In general, you'll be looking at anywhere between three Red Chuchu jellies and 10 Rupees for the initial upgrade, and then anywhere from five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, for example can be upgraded to an increase of 5 defense rating, which will allow you to stay ahead in frigid conditions with a large number of adversaries. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other side, can be upgraded as high as +20 defense so that you can survive a raid with your friends.
Be aware that armor can't be upgraded the same way as weapons, so you'll want to concentrate on upgrading it to gain physical power if you're a Warrior or Spell Power when you're Mage. It is recommended to save your armor upgrades to upgrade the armor that you will still be wearing by the end of the story, for example the Ring of Lightning, Spectral Shield or the mask you'll wear in the final boss fight The Monter Parts Merchant Mask.
You can also get some perks for your armor by giving the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. Generally, you'll want to keep these upgrades for the weapon you'll be using to win the game, like the Longsword, Battleaxe or Warhammer however, it could be useful to have a few upgrades of the helmets and chest armor that allow you to stealth around some monsters.
Potions
Potions are liquids that when consumed by the player, give an immediate effect for a short period of time. There are five types of potions, each with different effects and durations. Some potions may be upgraded, increasing their level of effect. In addition the effects of certain potions can be enhanced by adding redstone or glowstone dust to them.
Upgrades to your potion require a specific amount of XP. This can be obtained through crafting them on a table or by placing them in the Alchemist chest. The price of upgrades changes depending on what kind of potion you wish to upgrade, as well as on the item's Mark Level and rarity.
To upgrade a potion, right-click on it in your inventory and select the "Upgrade" option from the menu. This will open a GUI where you can select the potions you want to upgrade and the amount of XP they'll yield when upgraded. You can upgrade potions in batches up to five at once, and their XP will be added to the total XP you have.
Once a potion is upgraded and stored, it will not degrade unless you take it out again or break the bottle in which it is stored. You can also rename the potion by clicking on it in your inventory.
There were a few changes to the mechanics of potions in version 1.7.2. For example splash potions now have a duration of 0:08 (this is not the same as the 22.5 seconds that are displayed on the hover display of the item). The table for potion is now made of four Wood Planks, and two Glass. It can be utilized in both Survival and Bedrock. Contrary to Java Edition, Bedrock edition potions can't be mixed in cauldrons. The same applies to using a potion within the cauldron that is filled. This will drain the liquid, and then refill the bottle.
Finally, there are simmering potions that are made using dragon breath and splash potions. Similar to lingering potions, the effect can be extended by adding redstone to it. The table of potion ingredients has been rearranged to appear more like the Java Edition. New potions have also been added such as the potion of leaping as well as decomposition.
Trinkets
A trinket can be described as a small and inexpensive ornament or piece of jewelry. It could also refer to a small ornament or object that serves a function but is not important as a Thimble. In certain cultures, a trinket can be used to show affection or friendship between family members.
Trinkets can be upgraded by players as well as weapons and armor, as well as potions. These can be upgraded by going to an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate currency. Trinkets unlike other items that can be upgraded, can be traded at will without losing statistics.
The upgrade vendors are located in major cities and in the capital of each zone, and in some instances in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.
Upgrading a trinket is a cost-effective alternative to purchasing an entirely new one. It is possible to upgrade the player for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket comes with the same base level as the previous trinket however, it will also come with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.
When the old Trinkets are not usable, they can be upgraded. This allows players to increase both their power and value over time. They can be traded between players, making them an alternative to gold.
In general, players should upgrade their most important items first. This means that the top-in slot items for each class are upgraded first before their secondary gear, and then other pieces of equipment that will not replace in the near future (such as a ring or an cloak). When deciding on which items to upgrade players should be aware of their class's preferred statistics. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats for a tank player then they should consider upgrading their helm, chest and shoulders.
After they've become unusable trinkets are able to be upgraded to a greater level. The upgraded trinket will give you an additional 1percent bonus. Re-upgrading can cause damage to the trinket unless it is saved using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets can be more expensive than other upgrades, but still less expensive than buying an entirely new trinket.
